We’ve been working on this story for a week. Last Friday we first heard of an alleged suicide on Lumley, D yard. As usual, we did our due diligence tracking down witnesses and getting collaboration.
There is something new in the air at Perryville….. suspicion and secrecy. Our usually talkative sources have been very closed-mouthed about this one. We did get first-hand witnesses to conversations between staff about the event, and scored one witness that had been working on Lumley at the time.
Reportedly, an inmate had been complaining to Medical about not getting her psych meds renewed on time. She allegedly went to medical that day begging for her prescription, and was told “The pharmacy hasn’t given it to us yet.” According to the source, this lady was found hanging in her room at about 11:15 am and was unresponsive. The coroner’s van reportedly arrived a few hours later.
We’ve also checked our media folks and THEY didn’t know about this one either, but they reported the other Perryville deaths. What’s going on? If true, this would add to Thornell’s embarrassment over female mortality in his prison.
Rumor has it, that staff have been told to shut up and not talk to anyone about Naphcare or inmate deaths.
Camille Russell suicide was reported 5/24.
Things must change in the prison system! I did 8 years in perryville prison. Seen things heard things. They don’t manage things very well there for any health conditions especially people who need their psych medication. They fail the women there.
As of today 07-01-24 they took 11 inmates off of Lumley B Yard and segregated them on Lumley A Yard in Wing 4 stating that they are a danger to general population. Many of them have not had any major infractions in month, have held jobs, have not had any violent tickets, are phase 2s meaning they haven’t been in trouble. They just told them to pack up all of their belongings and moved them into a location code ASPC-PV LUMLEY RMHP II. They are being treated as if they are in the hole or Detention unit. Here are the names of 3 that they took. I was incarcerated with all of them on this same yard but was released this year and I’m trying to help fight for their rights. I’ve contacted the ACLU and called CO3s and some of their families. Angeleena Padilla 310494 Ruth Sosa 280563 and Nikki Lewis 263054. This is 3 of the 11 that they have taken into isolation. They were told by administration that they would be held back there anywhere from 6 months to 1 year. Lumley A Yard is not an open yard. The yard is locked down so they do not have much staff ever working it. This yard houses people who are in wing 1 and in the SMI program. People in wing 2 who are in the detention unit and people who are PVT (parolee violators who were sent back to prison and are waiting to be classified and sent back to an appropriate yard) wing 3 holds people in RNA (people who are just arriving to prison and awaiting classification to be placed on a yard). There is no location code that is appropriate for what they are doing to these incarcerated individuals. There is no schedule that is suitable to allow them to have the proper amount of free time they are supposed to have per Jensen vs Thornell CV-12-00601-PHX-ROS. They have essentially created a false housing location as a retaliation method to get back at some of these individuals. If there’s any resources you can provide me with so I can fight for their rights I would gladly appreciate it! I do not believe people should have to pay the price for decisions that other people around them chose to make. There are people who are truly trying to make changes to who they have been in the past. People who really do want to be their own true selves and not a part of some prison gang or culture that involves preying on the weak or bullying others. And if the uppers at Perryville would shift their focus more towards the real eminent threats, that would actually see changes on Lumley. There’s not a dark cloud over that unit..just dark people. And for whatever reason the administration continuously over looks them or lets them off with a slap on the wrist. You wanna see real changes on Lumley, start by looking into its corrupt staffing. Start by looking at ALL of SSU but specifically Gastélum. Start by looking at the DW Bindel. Start by looking at LT Ovando. Ask other officers who have left the unit why they left. Ask Co4s why they won’t work there. Ask the CO3s what really goes on in the meetings. Ive been a victim to the games myself. I know how shady they are. I know how they cover up. And I’ve had it. I’m free and no longer incarcerated and I’m still fed up with how they target individuals. And I will fight tooth and nail to put an end to it. Until people start taking accountability for the things they have done, I’ll be here.
