Inmates were provided a Family and Friends phone/email address for inquiries regarding their healthcare. Supposedly, family could find out info on how their incarcerated loved one could deal with the new for-profit healthcare provider. The phone number never went to a human being, they received a robot voice saying “We will try to connect your call” along with Dave Brubeck’s “Take 5” hold music. Then the caller was sent to voice mail. So far we haven’t heard from a person that received a callback. (not a scientific study, random stories) The email address is valid, but again, we haven’t heard from anyone that received a reply. Only one person reported they received info on how to buy medical supplies, but we haven’t verified that.
