Apparently, the long-held belief that everything that happens in prison should be covered up, is alive and well today 8-15-23. Gov Hobbs’s transparency has not broken through the DOC’s cartel ways. Blockade, hide, stonewall, deceive, and LIE LIE LIE.

This morning fentanyl was found on the tram. According to first-hand accounts, the tram driver found a bag of white powder inside a compartment, and immediately called officers to turn it in.

From the minute the guards touched that bag, they started to drop on the pavement. More guards came to investigate and stupidity messed with the powder. They too fell out. Someone tried to clean up the powder residue with a mop and was overcome. That officer was stripped to her underwear and hosed off. The inmates watched the whole scene from their windows overlooking the yard.

The first firetrucks and ambulances rolled in about 8am….then more trucks… then a heavy rescue van…it became a big rig parking lot. We watched the news helicopter film our yard from above and we saw more rescue vehicles parked outside the yard. We watched medics treat people with cans of Narcon, oxygen, and hose-downs.

As the morning progressed the lies told by the DOC became evident. At first, the media was told no inmates were affected. Lie #1. Three inmates were very much affected and taken to hospital.

Then the media announced that the white powder was “non-toxic”… Lie #2. So non-toxic white stuff sends people to the ER?

Lie #3 was ” We don’t know what the substance is.” The fire department already told them it was fentanyl.

The DOC said “just a few officers involved.”. 13 staff is just a few? Lie #4.

And on it went with the media trying to get at the truth and the DOC slamming them at every turn. Three channels, 12, 15 and Fox, were forced to get information from Fire Department and other agencies…. not the DOC. LIE LIE. CH 12 relied on truth from the inmates themselves, but could not break the barrier erected by the prison.
