With the ACLU breathing down the DOC’s back, inmates have been “expedited” out of prison. Women not even expecting release were told to pack up and go home. This is welcome news to the inmates experiencing serious overcrowding in Perryville.
UPDATE on overcrowding

This is bull. Arizona law does not allow ADCRR to release any inmate unless the inmate is statutorily eligible for release. Only SB 1310, the Transition Program or Temporary Release are lawfully allowed prior to the ERC date. No other early release provisions exist. Rumors abound. If the DOC numbers of all these so-called early releasees were checked, it could be verified as to the LEGAL reason for release, which has nothing to do with overcrowding. Sadly, this type of BS information constantly spreads around the prisons (male & female) and builds false hope.
