UPDATE
At intake, women are now being issued one pair of USED underwear, one blanket (I supposed they swapped one of the blankets for the underwear since its Summer and there is no cooling ), one toothbrush, a half a bar of soap, and a towel when entering prison. No sheets, no pillow, and no washcloth. They do get shower shoes but are not issued regular shoes.
Women just coming to prison report waiting weeks for underwear. They don’t get sheets either – only 2 blankets.
Where is that $1.1 billion going?
I was told they just now started to test the women inmates for Covid-19 but they have no place to put the ones that test positive, keeping them with the others. the medical department on Lumley unit is very rude a disrespectful to the woman treat them like dogs. they gave them a mask for the first time last week. the inmates are doing straight time because they can’t do the programs they take time off because of the COVID-19. I would like to know when the 65% is going into effect, and why they are not releasing nonviolent offenders early to give more room. my daughter dies in there because of a lack of compassion for these women I will sue the department. someone needs to check on these women “THE COVID-19 IS NOT A JOKE”
